Are you an experienced payroll professional ready to take the lead on end-to-end processes? Do you want a role where you can own payroll delivery and provide expert support to colleagues? Are you looking for a part-time position with responsibility, variety, and flexibility? If so, read on!

We are working with a not-for-profit organisation that delivers vital support and services to communities across the UK. Following a recent restructure, the team is seeking a Part-Time Payroll Lead to play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely payroll and HR administration.

In this role you will:

  • Take ownership as the organisation’s payroll lead, driving the relationship with the outsourced provider and ensuring compliance with all HMRC requirements.
  • Deliver accurate payroll and pension administration, working with providers to guarantee timely and correct deductions.
  • Lead on complex calculations for absences and unpaid leave, ensuring staff are paid correctly and on time.
  • Manage contracts, pay changes, and variance letters, acting as the key escalation point for the Payroll Administrator.
  • Oversee the administration of leavers, staff loans, advances, and accurate people data reporting.
  • Chair the Pay Panel, coordinating agendas, minutes, and driving the completion of agreed actions.
  • Safeguard the accuracy of payroll records and reports, ensuring readiness for audits.
  • Be the first point of contact resolving payroll and people administration queries efficiently and effectively.

This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis (22 hours per week), which can be worked over three or four days. The organisation offers exceptional flexibility, with most of the team working remotely and only requiring travel to the office once or twice a month if you live further away from London. You will also benefit from generous annual leave, study support, and a supportive working culture that values work–life balance.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience managing payroll processes for organisations with 200+ staff.
  • Bring a strong background in payroll administration and pensions.
  • Demonstrate speed and accuracy in handling payroll data and calculations.
  • Be confident handling queries and acting as the escalation point for payroll matters.

If this sounds like the next step in your career, apply now as applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis.
