About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will work closely with the Business Partner Team and wider finance function to deliver high-quality management accounting support. You’ll play a key role in providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records, ensuring all income and liabilities are correctly recorded and reconciled
  • Support the month-end close process, including:
    • Preparing and posting journals (accruals and prepayments) with clear audit trails
    • Reviewing general ledger postings and making necessary corrections
    • Investigating and resolving variances and queries
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including detailed explanations of month-on-month and year-on-year movements
  • Contribute to the development of annual budgets and forecasts, analysing key drivers such as student numbers, payroll/FTE, and non-pay costs
  • Assist with audits, providing supporting documentation and responding to auditor queries
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
  • Build strong working relationships across the finance team and wider departments
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality and reporting processes
  • Deputise for the Finance Business Partner when required

About You

  • Currently studying towards, or already holding, a recognised accounting qualification
  • Strong understanding of management accounting, including month-end processes, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a demanding workload
  • A self-starter with a proactive, positive attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships
  • Motivated to continuously develop and improve processes
