Key Responsibilities
Lead on audit committee reporting and annual audit preparation
Oversee year-end closure and production of statutory accounts
Prepare quarterly financial reports and provide clear analysis for senior stakeholders
Ensure strong financial governance and compliance across all processes
Support system improvements and contribute to ongoing process efficiency
Provide financial advice and support to colleagues across the organisation
Line manage or mentor finance staff

Person Specification
Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent); QBE candidates with strong local government experience will also be considered
Proven experience within local government finance is essential
Strong understanding of audit processes, financial reporting, and year-end closure
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex financial information clearly
