We are delighted to be working with a leading international development organisation to recruit an International Assistant Accountant for a key global education initiative. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a vital part in managing a complex portfolio of grants, donors, and implementing partners, ensuring financial processes are robust, compliant, and fit for purpose.
In this role, you will:
- Process a high volume of monthly financial transactions, including reconciliations, co-financing, cost recovery, and coding corrections.
- Review and process supplier, grant, and income payments with full supporting documentation.
- Maintain and update financial trackers for multiple grants, cost recovery, and balances, creating and closing grant codes as required.
- Complete quarterly grant reconciliations, monitor foreign exchange gains/losses, and support the preparation of donor and internal reports.
- Assist with audit preparation, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and review partner budgets and financial reports.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, preparing analysis and month-end journals to feed into high-level financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will:
- Be studying towards, or hold, an accounting qualification.
- Have experience in the not-for-profit sector, or demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for moving into it.
- Possess strong technical accounting knowledge, including debits and credits, accruals, prepayments, and month-end duties.
- Have experience with budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting.
- Be proficient in Excel, with skills in PivotTables, IF statements, and lookups.
- Be detail-focused, organised, and able to adapt to changing priorities in a busy environment.
