International Accounts Officer – Interim

Location: Birmingham – Hybrid (2–3 days per week in the office)
Rate: £19–£23 per hour Umbrella
Contract: 3–6 months
Start: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for an International Accounts Officer to join a busy finance function on an urgent interim basis.

This is a key role within an international finance environment, supporting the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, donor invoicing and reporting across multiple regions. The successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring international programmes continue to operate smoothly and financial requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage donor contract invoicing and ensure compliance with funding requirements across multiple regions.
  • Support international project accounting and institutional funding compliance.
  • Produce accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Support the timely transfer of funds to international and regional offices.
  • Monitor financial information and investigate variances or discrepancies.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and international teams to resolve finance queries.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure processes comply with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Use financial systems to manage and report on complex international finance activity.

About You

We are looking for an experienced finance professional with a strong understanding of international finance and donor-funded programmes.

You will ideally have:

  • A recognised accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or AAT.
  • Experience of donor contract invoicing and funding compliance.
  • Experience in international project accounting or a similar multi-region finance environment.
  • Strong financial reporting experience, including weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Experience using Unit4 ERP or a similar complex financial system.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across different teams and locations.
  • The ability to quickly understand complex financial requirements and work independently.
