Interim Year End Accountant

A membership organisation is seeking an Interim Year End Accountant to support the finance team through a critical year-end period. This is a key delivery-focused role, taking ownership of the statutory close and acting as the main point of contact for auditors and external advisers.

The successful candidate will be brought in to ensure the organisation is fully prepared for year end, with particular responsibility for complex accounting areas and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the year-end close process and coordinating all audit deliverables.
• Acting as the primary liaison with external auditors, ensuring queries are resolved efficiently.
• Preparing and posting payroll journals and reviewing payroll-related balances.
• Managing VAT returns end to end, including liaising with external VAT advisers.
• Ensuring all balance sheet positions are robust, supported and audit ready.
• Supporting the wider finance team to ensure a smooth and timely year-end process.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
• Have strong financial accounting and year-end experience.
• Be confident leading audits and working directly with external auditors.
• Have solid experience with VAT returns and advisory relationships.
• Be hands-on, delivery focused and comfortable operating in a time-pressured environment.

The role is based in Central London on a hybrid basis.

This role will suit an experienced financial accountant who can quickly take ownership, provide reassurance to stakeholders and guide the organisation through a successful year end.
