Interim Year End Accountant

Robertson Bell are partnering with a well-known charity undergoing a significant period of transformation to recruit an Interim Year-End Accountant for a 6-month assignment. As the organisation rebuilds and strengthens its finance function, this position will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and well-managed year-end process alongside offering vital support to the Finance Director.

This assignment offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical accountant who thrives in environments where change, improvement and restructuring are underway. You’ll take ownership of the year-end timetable, manage the audit process, and provide oversight and guidance to the financial operations team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading on year-end reporting and preparing statutory accounts in line with charity SORP.
• Acting as primary contact for external auditors, ensuring a smooth and timely audit process.
• Supporting the Finance Director across technical accounting, compliance and transformation activity.
• Overseeing the financial operations team and ensuring robust month-end controls.
• Providing expert advice on reporting improvements and financial best practice during a period of organisational change.
• Supporting ongoing transformation work within finance and contributing to future-state planning.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
• Have strong technical experience of charity year-end and reporting under SORP.
• Be confident managing audits and liaising with external auditors.
• Bring excellent communication skills and the ability to work with finance and non-finance colleagues.
• Be comfortable working in a changing environment where processes and structures are evolving.
• Be available for a 6-month contract and able to attend the London office once per week.
