Interim Senior Finance & Grants Officer 

Location: Birmingham – Hybrid (2–3 days per week in the office)
Rate: £20–£23 per hour Umbrella
Contract: 3–6 months

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Finance & Grants Officer to join a growing finance team on an interim basis.

This is a newly created role within the team following a recent organisational restructure and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of financial and grants processes supporting multiple international regions, including the Falkland Islands, Middle East and Africa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of financial processes, ensuring robust financial controls, compliance and reporting requirements are met across a portfolio of donor-funded programmes and grants.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the end-to-end financial management process for a portfolio of international programmes and grants.
• Support financial management across multiple regions, including the Falkland Islands, Middle East and Africa.
• Manage donor-funded financial reporting and ensure requirements are met accurately and on time.
• Oversee grant financial processes throughout the grant lifecycle, from award through to reporting and closure.
• Monitor expenditure against budgets and funding agreements, identifying and addressing variances where required.
• Ensure financial processes comply with donor requirements, internal policies and relevant regulations.
• Prepare and review financial reports for internal stakeholders and external donors.
• Work closely with programme and grants teams to provide financial guidance and resolve queries.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure appropriate documentation is in place for audit and compliance purposes.
• Support the continuous improvement of financial and grants processes within the newly structured team.

About You

We are looking for a finance professional with experience working across grants, donor-funded programmes and financial reporting.

You will ideally have:

• Experience working within a finance, grants or financial management environment.
• 1–2 years' relevant experience in grants, donor-funded finance or a similar setting.
• Experience managing or supporting the grant lifecycle, including financial monitoring and reporting.
• Experience with donor-funded reporting and financial compliance.
• Experience working with a complex financial reporting or ERP system.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage financial information accurately.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with both finance and non-finance colleagues.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
• Part-qualified accountants will be considered, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within international finance and grants.
