Are you an experienced Interim who has led Rent and Service Charge functions in the Housing sector through structural change? Do you understand the complexities of variable service charges in rented housing? Can you steady a team, embed improvement and look beyond day-to-day delivery?

A large Housing provider is seeking an Interim Rent & Service Charge Manager to provide leadership and stability during a period of reorganisation and system change. Reporting into the Head of Finance, this is a newly defined role overseeing both Rent and Service Charge Accounting functions. You will lead a team, ensuring strong operational delivery while driving improvement and forward planning.

This assignment is available on a 3–6 month basis and can be delivered fully remotely, with on-site engagement where beneficial.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and direction to Rent and Service Charge teams, supporting capability, engagement and performance.
  • Overseeing annual rent setting, budget alignment, receipt analysis and debit control oversight.
  • Ensuring robust service charge actualisation, budget monitoring and variance analysis across general needs and leasehold portfolios.
  • Embedding improved processes following recent system implementation and ensuring operational practices align to system capability.
  • Strengthening controls, assurance and legislative compliance across rent and service charge functions.
  • Horizon scanning future improvements, including system development and long-term operating model evolution.

This is a chance to influence a sizeable rent and service charge operation within a large Housing organisation. The foundations are in place — systems are evolving, customer communication is improving, and investment in the team is underway. What’s needed now is experienced leadership to bed in change, support developing colleagues and ensure next year is stronger than this year.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

  • Significant experience leading Rent and Service Charge functions within Housing.
  • Strong understanding of variable service charges in rented housing and relevant legislation.
  • Experience operating at scale and influencing across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change and embed improved ways of working.
  • Pragmatic, people-focused leadership style with strong oversight and assurance capability.
  • Housing sector experience is essential.

This 3-6 month contract can move to interviews as soon as suitable candidates come forward and an immediate start is available. Please apply now.
