Robertson Bell are pleased to be partnering with a well-established charitable organisation as they recruit for an Interim Head of Finance for a six-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance leader to oversee a broad range of financial activities within a respected and forward-thinking charity.
In this varied and hands-on role, you will take ownership of the finance function, leading on statutory reporting, managing a small team, and providing financial insight to senior leadership and trustees. This role is offered on a 3- or 4-day part time basis with a weekly presence on site required.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparing statutory accounts and managing the year-end process for the charity and its subsidiaries.
Overseeing the Finance Assistant and ensuring smooth delivery across purchase ledger, sales invoicing, payroll and VAT.
Providing financial due diligence and oversight for grant-making and investment activities.
Liaising with external stakeholders, including auditors and investment managers.
Supporting and servicing key governance committees, including Finance and Audit.
The successful candidate will:
Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant experience in charity finance.
Demonstrate strong technical knowledge, including charity SORP and restricted funds.
Possess excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.
Have confident communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and trustees.
Be comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment.
