Do you pride yourself on being able to deliver management accounts that are not only technically correct but commercially relevant? Can you redesign reporting so it actually helps the business make decisions? Do you know how to drive finance change delicately, without risking the sensibilities up a long-standing team?

A Housing Association is seeking an Interim Head of Management Reporting & Transformation to modernise its management reporting amidst a finance system implementation, and help reshape how finance operates across the organisation. This role exists to provide thinking capacity, structure and delivery at a time of change. The finance team has been in place for many years, though the reporting pack has not evolved, and a new finance system is being implemented. The organisation does not want a blunt-force or heavy-handed approach — it wants an experienced finance leader who can work collaboratively, improve what exists, and leave the function in a materially better place.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Redesigning the management accounts and reporting pack to better align with business needs and decision-making.
  • Supporting the delivery of existing management accounts while new reporting is developed in parallel.
  • Providing challenge, guidance and financial insight into the finance system implementation project.
  • Translating what the new system can deliver into practical, useful financial reporting and processes.
  • Identifying gaps in current reporting, ownership and ways of working across finance and the wider business.
  • Producing clear narrative reporting to address CFO-level questions and priorities.
  • Working sensitively within an established team culture, bringing people with you rather than imposing change.

This is a genuine opportunity to shape the future of a finance function coming from a low base. You’ll have the licence to improve reporting, simplify processes, and align finance more closely to how the business now operates — without being expected to deliver “platinum-standard” transformation. The leadership culture is open and collaborative, and success is defined by making finance clearer, easier and more useful.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience redesigning management accounts and financial reporting.
  • Background within Housing, not-for-profit, or a similar regulated environment desirable but not essential.
  • Comfortable working hands-on while also providing strategic thinking and challenge.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Experience supporting or challenging finance system implementations.
  • Flexible working style, with the ability to be on site 2–3 days per week.

Please get in touch for an informal conversation regarding this role, but don’t delay – quick action will be taken when the right candidates are identified.
