Interim Head of Finance

A small to medium-sized Housing provider in London is seeking an Interim Head of Finance & Treasury to take full responsibility for financial reporting, treasury, budgeting and operational finance leadership across a group structure. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring someone who can combine technical strength with leadership presence. You’ll oversee statutory and management reporting, lead the year-end audit, manage lender and grant relationships, and ensure the finance function continues to support the organisation effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

• Producing the annual statutory financial statements for multiple group entities.
• Leading and managing the year-end audit process.
• Producing monthly management accounts and consolidated reporting for the Group.
• Delivering the annual budget and quarterly forecasts across all entities.
• Ensuring all statutory, regulatory and financial returns are completed accurately and on time (including tax, VAT, grant and statistical returns).
• Leading all treasury activity, including cashflow management, lender relationships, and review of treasury policies and procedures.
• Overseeing the business partnering approach and ensuring finance provides a high-quality service to the wider organisation.
• Leading, developing and appraising the finance team, embedding a culture of service, accountability and excellence.

This is a high-impact interim assignment offering exposure to the full breadth of finance leadership within a Housing organisation. You’ll be trusted to run the function, maintain strong external relationships, and provide stability and assurance at a senior level. For an experienced housing finance leader, this is a chance to make a visible difference quickly. The role is based in the London office twice per week, offering a flexible hybrid pattern.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

• Fully qualified accountant with proven experience in a senior finance leadership role with operational delivery responsibility.
• Strong technical finance expertise, including statutory accounts, management reporting, budgeting and treasury.
• Demonstrable experience managing and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
• Confident leader with the ability to manage upwards and sideways as well as direct reports.
• Background within Housing, care, not-for-profit or a similarly regulated environment is highly desirable.
