Robertson Bell are delighted to be supporting a respected charity as they recruit an Interim Financial Controller for an initial 3-month assignment. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this is a key role to steady the ship, provide oversight of a developing finance team, and support with critical business cycles including the upcoming 2026 budget round.
Key duties will include:
- Leading, supporting, and adapting your management approach to bring out the best in each team member.
- Reviewing and finalising monthly management accounts, with particular focus on balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Supporting the Director of Finance with budget setting for 2026 and ensuring budget holders are engaged with clear, accurate financial information.
- Working closely with colleagues on bids, tenders, and business development opportunities.
- Ensuring the smooth running of the department through a period of systems upgrade and change.
The successful candidate will be:
- A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Experienced in the charity sector, with knowledge of restricted funds and, ideally, housing management systems.
- Able to demonstrate strong technical expertise across both management and financial accounting.
- Someone who builds rapport quickly and brings a pragmatic, problem-solving approach to challenges.
- An experienced people manager, confident in leading and motivating a team through change.
The role is based in Central London on a hybrid basis.
