Interim Financial Accountant

Are you an experienced team leader with Financial Accounting skills and a drive for accuracy and efficiency? Are you looking for a hands-on role where you can play a crucial part in the financial control environment of a not-for-profit organisation? Are you experience in dealing with complex tax matters, including VAT partial exemption, and leading on intercompany reconciliations? 

I am working with a North London-based not-for-profit organisation. This organisation has a significant local impact, and they are looking for an Interim Financial Accounting Manager to join their team for a 4-6-month contract to offer stability in core financial accounting processes while the organisation goes through a period of sustained change.

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing intercompany reconciliations and leading quarterly VAT and CIS returns, including complex VAT partial exemption requirements.
• Managing a small team of three junior accountants, reviewing and signing off their journals and reconciliations.
• Leading the trial balancing process at month-end.
• Overseeing bank, balance sheet, and payroll reconciliations, as well as general ledger maintenance.

This role is based in the North London office twice per week, offering a great opportunity to work in a purpose-driven environment while supporting the ongoing financial operations of the organisation.

To be considered, please meet the following criteria:

• Fully qualified accountant.
• Experienced in managing small financial accounting teams, and reviewing the reconciliations and journal postings of junior team members.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, CIS, and intercompany accounting, including leading on complex partial exemption VAT returns.
• Proven ability to perform detailed reconciliations.
