Interim Finance Officer

Location: Bradford
Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract, with potential to become permanent
Hours: Full-time, 1 day a week in the office

We are recruiting for a Finance Officer to join a busy finance team in Bradford on an initial six-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right person.

This is a varied finance position covering accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger activities, making it an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Finance Officer or a high-potential junior finance professional looking to develop their career.

The Role

Working as part of the finance team, you will support a broad range of day-to-day financial processes and help ensure transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Supporting general ledger activities and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Preparing and processing payment runs.
  • Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting with double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Uploading and processing housing benefit schedules.
  • Supporting the wider finance team with day-to-day accounting requirements.
  • Investigating and resolving financial queries where required.
  • Ensuring financial information is accurate, complete and processed within agreed timescales.
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of finance processes and systems.

About You

We are open to considering candidates at different stages of their finance career.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience within a finance administration, accounts or Finance Officer position.
  • Exposure to accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and confidence working with financial data.
  • Ideally, experience using Excel lookups and pivot tables, or the aptitude to develop these skills quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • The initiative to identify issues and find solutions rather than simply follow processes.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working.

Experience within the housing sector would be advantageous, as would experience of HomeMaster, although neither is essential.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a role that offers both variety and development.

For a junior candidate, the position provides the opportunity to broaden your experience across AP, AR and general ledger functions while developing your technical finance skills.

For a more experienced Finance Officer, the role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a varied workload and use your existing systems and process knowledge to make an immediate contribution.

The initial contract is for six months, with the potential for the position to become permanent for the successful candidate.

If you're an ambitious junior finance professional or an experienced Finance Officer looking for your next opportunity in Bradford, we'd be keen to hear from you.
