Interim Assistant Management Accountant

An organisation based in London is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant on an initial 3 month contract to support their finance team during a busy period. This is a varied role offering strong exposure to month-end processes, financial reporting and stakeholder support. This role is inside IR35, paid through an Umbrella company. 

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and posting journals including income releases and accruals
• Supporting the production of monthly management accounts and investigating variances against budget
• Reviewing financial transactions to ensure accurate coding and budget alignment
• Assisting with budgeting and forecasting by liaising with budget holders
• Supporting system administration including user access and supplier setup
• Reviewing open purchase orders to support accurate commitment reporting
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Reconciling data imports from external systems and resolving variances
• Providing support across the finance team on ad hoc tasks as required

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience supporting management accounts and month-end processes
• Understanding of double entry bookkeeping, accruals and cost centres
• Experience with accounting systems and strong Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
• Studying towards or interested in a professional accounting qualification (desirable)
• A proactive attitude and willingness to support across a busy finance function
