Do you enjoy resolving financial queries, managing supplier relationships and ensuring payments are processed accurately?

Are you confident working with large volumes of data, reconciliations and utility invoices? Can you build strong relationships with stakeholders while identifying opportunities to improve financial processes?

Robertson Bell is supporting a Housing Association in the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant on an interim basis. This role will have a particular focus on utility billing administration, supplier reconciliations and financial reporting, while supporting the wider finance team with management accounting activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing utility bill queries and liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Processing direct debit payments, invoices and supplier statement reconciliations
  • Assisting with the preparation of management accounts, budgets and financial reports
  • Supporting budget holders with financial information and budget monitoring
  • Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and audit requirements
  • Contributing to the improvement of financial systems, controls and processes

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys combining transactional finance, stakeholder management and financial reporting within a purpose-driven organisation.

To be considered, you should have:

  • An Accounting Technician qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working within a finance or accountancy environment
  • Experience processing invoices, reconciliations and resolving supplier queries
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse financial information
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience within the public sector, housing sector or utilities administration
  • Knowledge of housing association finance and related accounting standards
  • Studying towards, or interested in studying towards, a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or ICAEW)

Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged.
