Interim Part time Finance Officer

Fully Remote

3 Days per Week

3-Month Contract

Pay Rate: £23 per hour (Umbrella)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Interim Finance Officer to join a charity on an initial 3-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous charity finance experience who can hit the ground running, provide essential finance support and work independently in a fully remote environment.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will take responsibility for day-to-day finance administration, month-end reconciliations and supporting the administration of a small grants programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices and employee expense claims.
  • Managing payment cards, including allocating funds, checking receipts and ensuring accurate coding.
  • Completing month-end reconciliations, including bank and supplier reconciliations.
  • Preparing payment runs for review and approval by the Head of Finance.
  • Reconciling incoming income by identifying bank deposits and liaising with the fundraising team to ensure accurate allocation.
  • Administering a small grants programme, arranging purchases on behalf of beneficiaries.
  • Processing approved purchases, allocating costs correctly and maintaining accurate records.
  • Supporting the wider finance function with general administrative duties as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar finance role, ideally within a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
  • Strong understanding of day-to-day finance processes, including invoice processing, reconciliations and payment runs.
  • Experience managing expenses, payment cards and financial records.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently and picking up new systems and processes quickly.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams.

The Opportunity

This role would suit a hands-on Finance Officer who enjoys working in a small charity environment, is comfortable taking ownership of finance administration and can quickly become a valued member of the team.

If you have relevant charity finance experience and are available for an immediate start, we would love to hear from you.
