Are you an experienced and technically strong finance professional with a passion for financial control, reporting accuracy, and developing high-performing teams? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, change-driven environment where you can make a real impact? Want to work for an impressive CFO?

We are seeking a Head of Financial Accounting to lead the central finance and payroll function of a growing national organisation. This is a pivotal role for someone who enjoys driving continuous improvement, strengthening financial controls, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across multiple sites.

As Head of Financial Accounting, you will:

  • Oversee statutory reporting, management accounts, cash flow, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Play a key role in the ongoing development of financial strategy and policy across the organisation.
  • Lead and develop a central finance and payroll team, promoting a culture of accuracy, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and reporting to enhance efficiency and control.
  • Manage internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with financial regulations and best practice.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and guidance to senior leaders to support strategic decision-making.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious, forward-looking organisation that has undergone significant transformation and growth. You will be part of a collaborative and fast-moving environment, working alongside a supportive and dynamic leadership team that values integrity, pace, and teamwork.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be confident in overseeing statutory reporting, management accounts, cash flow, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA).
  • Be experienced leading finance teams and overseeing financial control, reporting, and compliance.
  • Possess excellent technical accounting knowledge, ideally gained in a multi-entity or complex organisation.
  • Show confidence in working with senior stakeholders, presenting financial information clearly and credibly.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, hands-on approach and a track record of improving processes and developing people.
  • Have experience working with financial systems and managing system change or improvement projects.

This role offers a genuine opportunity to shape and strengthen financial operations within a large, evolving organisation. Hybrid working is available, with an expectation of three days per week on site at their Northamptonshire head office.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis - please apply early to avoid disappointment.
