A leading UK charity is seeking a Financial Accounting & Control Manager to join its Finance & Procurement team on a permanent basis. This organisation is nationally recognised for its work supporting vulnerable children and young people, with a long-standing commitment to safeguarding, advocacy and service delivery across the UK.

The Financial Accounting & Control Manager will report to the Head of Central Finance and lead a team of four. The role will have oversight of primary ledgers, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory accounts production, tax compliance and treasury management. You will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control, technical compliance and the effective operation of core finance processes, while acting as a trusted advisor to colleagues across the organisation.

The key duties of this Financial Accounting & Control Manager will be:

  • Lead the production of consolidated statutory accounts for the group and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with SORP and relevant accounting standards
  • Implement, monitor and enforce internal financial controls to protect the integrity of financial reporting
  • Manage VAT, direct tax and corporate tax compliance, including planning, returns and liaison with HMRC
  • Oversee cashflow monitoring and treasury management, including banking and investment relationships
  • Review and improve financial processes, documenting procedures and ensuring consistent application
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Lead, develop and support a team of Financial Accountants and Finance Officers

The successful candidate will be:

  • CCAB qualified, with experience working in a complex financial environment
  • Experienced in producing consolidated statutory accounts and managing external audits
  • Confident in designing and enforcing strong financial controls
  • An experienced people manager, able to develop and motivate a small team
  • Detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and the ability to engage non-finance stakeholders
  • Proactive and improvement-focused, with a track record of strengthening processes and compliance
