Join a stable and well-established finance team within a large, complex organisation where roles rarely become available. This is a permanent opportunity created following an internal move, offering the chance to take ownership of external reporting and statutory accounting in a structured and high-control environment.

You’ll work closely with an experienced senior leader (ex-audit background, 10+ years in role) within a team of nine, playing a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across financial reporting processes.

What you’ll do

• Take ownership of financial statements preparation, ensuring accuracy and readiness for year-end audit
• Lead on balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and core financial accounting processes
• Act as a key contact for internal and external audit, supporting a smooth and efficient audit cycle
• Oversee VAT returns, tax compliance, and fixed asset accounting
• Manage and support AP and Treasury teams (3 staff), ensuring high-quality outputs and strong controls
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, challenging data and enhancing financial controls
• Support broader analytical work, including income trends and financial performance insights

What you’ll need

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) or QBE
• Strong experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting (full ownership of financial statements)
• Background in a large, complex organisation with high transaction volumes
• Solid technical knowledge across financial statements, audit, VAT/tax, and balance sheet control
• Audit background (external or internal) is highly desirable
• Proactive, analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement and data integrity
• Confident communicator, able to engage stakeholders and handle queries independently

Benefits and working pattern

• Hybrid working (typically 3 days office / 2 from home)
• Defined benefit pension (highly competitive)
• 30 days annual leave + 5 additional concession days
• Stable, supportive team with strong retention and tenure
• Opportunity to play a key role during audit and year-end
• Exposure to a complex and evolving financial environment
