Ready to play a key role supporting the Head of Finance within a purpose-driven social housing organisation?

Following a period of growth and increasing regulatory focus, this organisation is seeking a Financial Accountant to strengthen its core finance function. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will play a critical role in statutory reporting, year-end delivery, and maintaining strong financial control in a highly regulated social housing environment.

What you’ll gain:

  • Close partnership with senior finance leadership, working directly with the Head of Finance on statutory reporting, audit, and governance.

  • Ownership of core financial accounting responsibilities, with a lead role in year-end processes and balance sheet integrity.

  • A role with real purpose, supporting the delivery of safe, affordable homes and positive community outcomes.

  • Professional development and progression within a supportive, high-performing finance team.

What you’ll do as the Financial Accountant:

  • Support the Head of Finance in the preparation of statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and social housing regulation.

  • Play a key role in the year-end process, including audit coordination and production of supporting schedules.

  • Maintain strong balance sheet controls, including reconciliations, reviews, and resolution of issues.

  • Prepare and support regulatory and external reporting requirements specific to the social housing sector.

  • Produce accurate and timely financial information to support internal reporting and decision-making.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement across financial processes, controls, and reporting.

What you’ll need:

  • Qualified, actively studying, or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

  • Experience in a financial accounting or reporting role within the social housing sector.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including statutory accounts and audit processes.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.

  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior finance stakeholders.

Make a meaningful impact through finance:

This Financial Accountant role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Head of Finance, strengthen financial governance, and contribute to a mission-led social housing organisation delivering essential services. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early interest is encouraged.
