Robertson Bell are delighted to be partnering with a respected charity based in Bristol as they recruit for a Financial Accountant on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative finance team, playing a key role in the organisation’s month-end, year-end and reconciliation processes.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the month-end process, preparing journals and ensuring the accuracy of management accounts.
Completing detailed balance sheet and control account reconciliations, providing commentary and analysis where required.
Managing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies in a timely manner.
Assisting with the year-end audit, preparing schedules and liaising with external auditors.
Supporting VAT accounting and ensuring compliance with charity VAT regulations.
Acting as system administrator for the finance system and assisting with financial data submissions to external bodies (including government surveys).
Collaborating with colleagues across finance and the wider organisation to ensure smooth financial operations.
The successful candidate will:
Be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) – qualified by experience will also be considered.
Have strong experience working within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
Demonstrate proven skills in month-end processes, reconciliations and year-end audit preparation.
Have good knowledge of charity VAT and related compliance requirements.
Be highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with the expectation of attending the Bristol office two to three days per week.
