Robertson Bell are delighted to be working with one of the most prestigious institutions in the UK to recruit a permanent Finance Project Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative finance team supporting a complex portfolio of research projects, while gaining hands-on experience in post-award grant management. Reporting to a Senior Grants and Projects Finance Officer, you will work closely with project leads and the finance team to ensure financial compliance, effective reporting, and smooth project delivery.

Key responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of a portfolio of research grants, supporting Principal Investigators and Project Managers in managing funds in line with funder Terms and Conditions.

  • Support the setup of new projects, liaising with research administration teams and providing guidance on budgets, procurement, and recruitment plans.

  • Manage project closeout, reviewing expenditure, preparing final expenditure statements, and dealing with residual balances.

  • Process and code invoices, manage suspense accounts, and respond to financial queries from project teams.

  • Support internal and external audits, collating required documentation and ensuring compliance with funder regulations.

  • Produce regular financial reports, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses to support project management and senior finance colleagues.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with research teams across multiple disciplines, providing crucial financial support and insight to help projects succeed. You will act as a key point of contact for Principal Investigators and project staff, supporting them in managing budgets effectively and ensuring compliance with funder requirements. The position combines technical financial responsibilities with the chance to develop strong relationships across the organisation, while gaining exposure to complex research grant management and post-award processes.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be AAT qualified (full or part-qualified) with proven financial aptitude.

  • Have experience in administration within a research environment, public sector, or large complex organisation.

  • Possess excellent Excel and IT skills, with confidence in handling data and reporting.

  • Be proactive, organised, and able to manage competing priorities within a busy finance environment.

  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.

Interviews are being scheduled on a rolling basis, and early applications are strongly encouraged.
