We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join a growing finance team specialising in service charge accounting within a large and complex organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in housing, property, or service charge finance who is looking to develop their expertise within a collaborative and customer-focused environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the end-to-end service charge cycle, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with legislation, and clear communication with both internal stakeholders and customers.

  • Ensure all service charges are accurate, transparent, and compliant with relevant lease agreements and legislation.
  • Prepare financial information for annual rent review and certification processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Assist with the management and review of sinking fund contributions and long-term maintenance forecasts.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Support the resolution of customer and stakeholder queries relating to service charges.
  • Attend meetings where required to provide financial insight and support understanding of service charge processes.

Compliance & Governance

  • Maintain accurate records and audit trails across all service charge activities.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, housing legislation, and internal financial controls.
  • Support audit readiness and contribute to the integrity of financial reporting.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of service charge processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Participate in testing and implementation of finance and housing system enhancements.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, industry guidance, and best practice.

About You

You will ideally have experience within service charge accounting, housing finance, or property finance, alongside strong analytical and organisational skills.

  • AAT qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience preparing service charge estimates and reconciliations
  • Knowledge of leasehold, shared ownership, and social housing tenures
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • A collaborative and customer-focused approach

Experience working within housing or property management environments and familiarity with housing finance systems would be advantageous.
