This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected public sector organisation as a Finance Officer. Working three days per week in the office, you’ll be based at one of two offices in the Dartford area, depending on your preference. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the smooth running of the organisation’s financial operations, supporting schools and the central finance team to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all financial processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and process purchase orders, managing approximately 10–20 per month, ensuring accuracy and timely approvals

  • Liaise with school business managers and the central finance team to support day-to-day financial activity

  • Manage credit card processes and ensure all expenditure is recorded and reconciled appropriately

  • Prepare and process payroll change forms for around 50 staff members

  • Support director-level stakeholders with requisitions and other finance-related tasks

  • Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial systems and procedures

Person Specification

  • Experience working in a finance function, ideally with exposure to purchase orders, reconciliations, or payroll processes

  • Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment

  • Clear communicator with the confidence to liaise with colleagues and stakeholders across different teams

  • An aptitude to drive and grow within the organisation
  • Proactive and solution-focused approach, with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement

  • Experience within the education, public, or not-for-profit sectors is desirable, though private sector experience will also be considered

  • Minimum of GCSEs or A-levels (or equivalent)
