Finance Business Manager
£55,000 – £60,000 | Hybrid | Permanent
We are working with a well-established, purpose-led organisation to appoint an experienced Finance Business Manager to join its senior finance function.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional who wants to operate as a genuine strategic finance partner, providing insight and challenge to senior stakeholders while leading a small team.
The organisation is looking for someone who can move beyond traditional financial reporting and help shape financial planning, forecasting and decision-making across the organisation.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of a broad range of strategic finance responsibilities, including:
- Leading the annual budgeting and financial planning process.
- Developing and maintaining accurate financial forecasts, with a focus on improving monthly forecasting.
- Leading cash-flow forecasting and providing insight into financial performance.
- Taking responsibility for actuals, results and financial performance reporting.
- Providing high-quality financial analysis and insight to senior stakeholders and budget holders.
- Challenging and supporting budget holders to improve financial decision-making.
- Managing and developing two Finance Business Partners.
- Leading the annual audit process and working closely with external auditors.
- Preparing and presenting financial information to a range of stakeholders.
- Supporting the wider finance function with strategic financial projects and improvements.
- Using data and reporting tools, including Power BI, to provide meaningful financial insight.
This is not an operational transactional finance role. The emphasis is firmly on FP&A, financial planning, business partnering, leadership and providing the insight required to support organisational decision-making.
About You
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post-qualified experience and a strong track record within a similar senior finance environment.
You will ideally have:
- 5–10+ years' experience within finance, with strong post-qualified experience.
- Proven experience across budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Strong business partnering experience with senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing and developing finance professionals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to different audiences.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capability.
- Experience using Power BI and financial systems such as Modulize.
- Experience of audit and statutory financial processes.
- An understanding of VAT would be advantageous, particularly partial exemption VAT, although this is not essential.
- The confidence and credibility to challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
We are particularly interested in individuals who combine strong technical finance capability with excellent interpersonal skills.
What’s on Offer?
- Salary of £55,000 – £60,000.
- Hybrid working, with approximately 1 day a week.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- The opportunity to work in a purpose-led organisation where finance plays an important role in organisational decision-making.
- Significant exposure to senior leadership and strategic financial planning.
- The opportunity to lead and develop an established finance team.
- A role with genuine scope to influence how financial planning and performance are managed across the organisation.
