An excellent opportunity to develop your finance career within a well-established charitable organisation

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Administrator to join our Finance Team.

This role offers a strong foundation for someone looking to build a career in finance within the charity sector. It would suit an individual with previous office or finance experience who is keen to develop their technical skills in a structured, professional and supportive environment.

About the Organisation

We are an established UK-registered charity providing specialist philanthropic administration and advisory services. For over 20 years, we have supported individuals, families and charitable initiatives with the management and distribution of funds in the UK and internationally.

Operating within a robust governance and compliance framework, we provide the infrastructure required to facilitate effective, well-managed charitable giving. The organisation manages significant annual donation flows and is recognised within its sector for professionalism, discretion and high standards of financial stewardship.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and assist in maintaining strong financial controls across the organisation.

The role involves processing a high volume of transactions, reviewing payment documentation carefully and ensuring all approvals and supporting evidence are complete before payments are made. You will also contribute to daily bookkeeping and reporting processes, helping to ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.

This position requires strong attention to detail, sound organisational skills and the confidence to liaise with colleagues to resolve queries efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payments accurately and in a timely manner
  • Verify bank details and conduct appropriate payment checks
  • Review payment requests to ensure correct approvals and documentation are in place
  • Handle higher-value transactions in line with compliance and risk procedures
  • Resolve payment queries and discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records across finance systems
  • Assist with reconciliations and raising sales invoices
  • Maintain and update client statements in liaison with internal stakeholders
  • Support allocation processes, invoicing, statements and Gift Aid tasks
  • Generate reports using Sage and Excel
  • Maintain organised finance filing systems
  • Provide general administrative support to the Finance Team

About You

We are looking for a conscientious and organised individual who takes pride in producing accurate work and enjoys contributing to a collaborative team.

You will have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) with basic accounting knowledge
  • A minimum of one year’s experience in a finance administrator or bookkeeping role
  • Experience using accountancy software (Sage preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills (intermediate level or above)
  • High levels of numeracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Confidence communicating with colleagues across the organisation
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information appropriately
  • A positive and proactive approach to learning
