This position gives you exposure to core financial processes in a large public sector organisation while enjoying flexibility to manage your working pattern around your life. You’ll be part of a supportive team that encourages development and offers opportunities to broaden your experience across finance.

You’ll have the option to focus on either finance business partnering or financial accounting, depending on your skills and interests, with plenty of scope to develop across both areas. Either way, this role offers real responsibility, hands-on experience, and visibility with key stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• Prepare and review monthly management reports and support budget reallocations
• Take ownership of specific budget areas with oversight from senior colleagues
• Support year-end reporting, statutory returns, and other financial submissions
• Contribute to treasury and cashflow management, including investment activity
• Assist with capital accounting, grant monitoring, and VAT compliance
• Work across multiple finance systems in a large, dynamic organisation

What’s in it for you

You’ll benefit from a flexible working environment with the ability to work remotely most of the time, strong support for professional development, and a clear path for career progression. The organisation offers generous study support, pension and wellbeing benefits, annual leave, discounted healthcare, and access to a range of staff discounts and fitness facilities. There’s also genuine opportunity to explore different areas of finance as your career develops.

What you’ll need

• Experience in a finance role with exposure to accounts, reporting, or budgeting
• Confidence using Excel including pivot tables and SUMIFS, and comfort extracting data from financial systems
• Interest in growing a career within the public sector
• Flexibility and a positive approach to change in a large organisation
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders
• Motivation to learn and develop professionally

About the organisation

You’ll join a large public sector body providing essential services, with a finance team that values development, collaboration, and a flexible approach to working.
