Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to support the effective financial management of the organisation. The role involves delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and ensuring smooth day-to-day finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and submission of timely returns to HMRC and pension providers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and in line with agreed payment terms.
- Producing fully allocated year-end accounts for audit and liaising with auditors throughout the year.
- Maintaining strong working relationships with banking partners.
- Liaising with accounting system providers to ensure system effectiveness.
- Ensuring all financial policies and procedures are followed and adhered to across the organisation.
- Responding to staff queries relating to salaries, pensions, and budgets.
- Maintaining accurate financial records in line with audit requirements.
- Providing timely and accurate financial information, including variance analysis and recommendations.
- Processing monthly payroll.
- Managing the sales ledger, including issuing invoices and resolving related queries.
- Advising on payroll-related financial matters such as tax, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
- Producing salary analysis reports.
- Ensuring regular reconciliation of accounts, codes, and sub-ledgers.
- Monitoring and managing expenditure, identifying and reporting potential overspend.
- Managing cashflow to ensure operations remain within agreed financial limits.
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of financial controls and procedures.
