Unlocked Graduates is partnering exclusively with Robertson Bell to recruit to a Head of Finance on a permanent, full-time basis.

Unlocked Graduates is working to change the way we develop society’s future leaders and how we think about prisons and prisoners – by focusing on rehabilitation and addressing the terrible damage and cost of reoffending.

Currently, prison is not a place which breaks the cycle of reoffending successfully: the average prisoner has 16 previous convictions and nearly half of prisoners reoffend within a year of release. This is the problem which Unlocked Graduates exists to fix. They do this predominantly through a leadership programme which recruits, trains and supports excellent graduates to develop leadership skills through working as prison officers and improving prisons from the inside.

Unlocked are recruiting for a Head of Finance to take the reins of our charity’s finance function. To give a sense of scale, we have a turnover of around £4m and around 47 headquarters staff. Established in 2016 and gaining independent charitable status in 2020, we are out of ‘start up’ phase but maintain the dynamism of a growing and ambitious charity.

As Recruitment and Marketing Director, Erin leads the overall strategy for how we attract, select and retain the best candidates to start our Leadership Development Programme and works closely with our key stakeholders.

Erin joined at the start of 2023 after seven years working in graduate recruitment at Teach First. Erin started her career as a languages teacher and was a Head of MFL in Grimsby and North Manchester.

Natasha is founder and CEO at Unlocked Graduates. She developed the concept while working with Dame Sally Coates on her review into prison education, and has led the organisation from its inception in 2016. Since then, Unlocked Graduates has recruited over 600 graduates to be prison officers, working with over 20,000 prisoners across the country.

Natasha has a background in public sector start up and was previously a teacher and senior leader in inner city schools.

Bodil joined Unlocked Graduates as an experienced leading adult trainer who has a passion for researching and applying the best teaching and learning techniques. She has spoken widely on these issues and been a course tutor for BPP’s PGCE (post-graduate certificate in education) as well as contributing to two books on initial training and continuing professional development.

Bodil was a founding teacher and Head of Department at Michaela Community School, a free school in Brent, and a Teach First Ambassador.

Khadija joined Unlocked Graduates as the Attraction Manager in 2021 before moving into her current role as Head of Diversity and Inclusion and Attraction Manager in 2022. As Head of Diversity and Inclusion, she leads on the organisation’s diversity and inclusion strategy, supporting internal and programme facing initiates.

Ella joined Unlocked Graduates after managing the press, communications, and public affairs department at the Holocaust Educational Trust. Prior to this, she was the National Director of the Jewish Labour Movement. She started her career as elected sabbatical President of the Union of Jewish Students.

Liam has a passion for applying insights to help public services and leaders maximise their performance and impact for social good. He joined Unlocked Graduates in 2023, with a background in public sector graduate leadership having spent six years as Head of Impact at Police Now, which works to recruit diverse and outstanding graduates to the police service.

Prior to this Liam worked in strategic research, evaluation and performance roles across the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime and Metropolitan Police Service.

Bella joined Unlocked in 2019 as Head of Region (North) overseeing the expansion into working with prisons across Greater Manchester and then the Midlands. She started in her role as Programme Director in February 2023.

Bella has expertise in Education, leadership development, coaching and management. Having started her career in an academy in London, Bella then moved to Manchester where she worked for education charity Teach First in a variety of roles, supporting and training teachers and managing teams.
