A Housing Association based in Medway is seeking an experienced Rent Specialist to join the organisation for an initial six-month engagement.

The organisation is flexible on the nature of the appointment and is happy to consider candidates seeking either a fixed-term contract or an equivalent day rate arrangement (Inside IR35 via Umbrella). There is also flexibility around working patterns, with both full-time and part-time options available for the right individual.

This role will take ownership of the rent setting process and provide oversight of rental income activities, whilst supporting and developing a junior member of staff who will assist with the day-to-day delivery of the function.

The organisation is open to candidates operating at either Officer or Manager level, however hands-on Housing Association rent setting experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating the annual rent setting process.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant rent policies, regulations and guidance.
  • Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of rent and service charge data.
  • Overseeing rental income processes and associated controls.
  • Working collaboratively with Finance, Housing and operational stakeholders.
  • Supporting, training and developing a junior team member.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience of rent setting within a Housing Association environment.
  • Strong understanding of social housing rent regulations and policy.
  • Experience overseeing rental income and related financial processes.
  • Confident Excel user, able to work with and interrogate large datasets.
  • Able to work independently whilst building strong stakeholder relationships.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a rent professional looking for a flexible interim assignment where they can make an immediate impact. The organisation is open to considering candidates seeking a traditional FTC, an interim day-rate contract or a part-time arrangement, provided they can bring the required Housing Association rent setting expertise.

An immediate start is available, although candidates with short notice periods will also be considered.
