Do you thrive when things are busy, complex, and constantly moving? Can you jump into a large finance team mid-cycle, pick things up fast, and add value straight away? Are you a qualified accountant who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and supporting others through high-pressure periods?

A large, well-established Not for Profit organisation is seeking an Interim Financial Accountant to provide additional capacity within its Financial Accounting team through the critical year-end and audit period, taking place alongside a major system change. Running until summer 2025, this seven-to-nine month FTC will support multiple entities across a complex group structure while helping the wider team prepare for audit and embed new systems.

You’ll report to the Head of Finance and work alongside existing qualified Accountants, supporting the delivery of consolidated reporting, balance sheet management, and audit readiness. The purpose is to ease pressure on the existing team, maintain accuracy and control, and create breathing space as they prepare for a major system transition to a new ERP system.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes across multiple legacy entities
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, journals, and consolidated financial statements
  • Assisting with external audit preparation and managing audit queries
  • Reviewing and improving the speed and accuracy of consolidated cashflow reporting
  • Supporting colleagues as they learn new systems and continue working with legacy ones
  • Providing flexible support across the team, stepping in wherever extra capacity is needed

This is a hands-on, problem-solving role for someone who can get to grips with complexity quickly and work confidently with minimal supervision. You’ll be joining a capable, friendly finance team that values collaboration, curiosity, and commitment — and you’ll be trusted to make a tangible difference during a busy period.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) – essential
  • Strong technical accounting experience in group or multi-entity organisations
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with large finance systems
  • Comfortable navigating complex reporting structures and tight deadlines
  • Pragmatic communicator who can engage with busy colleagues and get answers efficiently

If you’re ready to step into a fast-paced finance environment and play a crucial role in keeping year-end and audit on track, apply today or contact me for a confidential discussion.
