Do you love diving into broken finance processes and putting them right? Are you at your best when bringing order to chaos and creating systems that actually work? Do you have the drive, technical ability, and persistence to make change stick?

A leading housing group is seeking an Interim Finance Process Improvement Lead for a 6-9 month day-rate contract, supporting the Finance team through a period of transition and structural change. You’ll play a hands-on role in identifying what’s broken, fixing the root causes, and leaving behind a streamlined, well-controlled month-end and reporting process.

The environment is self-aware, collaborative, and ready for change — the challenge lies in untangling legacy workarounds, inconsistent coding, and manual interventions that have crept in over time. This role is about making things simple, robust, and right first time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading process reviews across month-end, reporting, and transactional finance to identify inefficiencies and data integrity issues
  • Designing and implementing practical process improvements to reduce manual interventions and improve system reliability
  • Rebuilding control schedules and re-establishing a single version of the truth within core financial systems
  • Providing hands-on support to the Finance team during month-end, ensuring journals, reconciliations, and reports are delivered on time
  • Collaborating with Finance Business Partners to improve information flow between development finance, operations, and central reporting
  • Coaching team members to adopt new, simplified ways of working that improve accuracy and consistency

This is a rare opportunity to make a visible difference in a high-impact role. You’ll work closely with senior finance leaders who are committed to change, in a team that wants things fixed and functioning — not just patched.

This role is inside IR35 and based in the West London office twice per week.

To be considered, please meet these criteria:

  • Proven experience in finance process improvement primarily within management accounting
  • Strong systems awareness and confidence in identifying and resolving data or workflow issues
  • Practical, hands-on problem solver who enjoys “rolling up sleeves” and fixing at source
  • Capital or development finance exposure advantageous. Similarly - complex organisation size and structure is also advantageous
  • Friendly, calm, and energetic communicator able to influence and motivate under pressure

If you’re a natural fixer who takes satisfaction in leaving finance functions stronger, simpler, and more controlled than you found them, apply today or contact me for a confidential discussion.
