CIPD are exclusively partnering with Robertson Bell to recruit their newly created Finance Business Analyst role on a permanent basis. As a registered Charity, we were established to promote the art and science of the management and development of people for public benefit. Ever since we were founded in 1913 by a group of people responsible for the well-being of factory workers, we've stayed true to the same purpose: we exist to champion better work and working lives for the benefit of individuals, businesses, economies and society.

Following some recent internal changes in the finance team, we are now looking to recruit this key role to support the Group Management Accountant in the maintenance and development of our long-term strategic plans. The financial planning, modelling and analysis work in this role provides financial information that helps inform decision making by the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Departments and provides key inputs used in the development of the CIPD’s direction and strategy.

The organisation:

Our work to champion better work and working lives takes on a number of guises. We set professional standards and support our members to make a real impact on the work and working lives of the people and organisations they work with.  Through our independent research and insights, we influence policy and practice to ensure that work benefits everyone - making us a trusted adviser to individuals, employers, media and policy makers.

This role offers a full-time opportunity with extremely flexible working arrangements and an excellent benefits package including 28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), an unparalleled study support package and opportunities to work from home for up to three days per week. Although homebased initially, candidates applying must live within a reasonable commute from our offices based in Wimbledon, London.

The key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Maintain the 5-year financial model that forecasts CIPD’s future income, costs, cashflow and balance sheet.
  • Carry out financial analysis and modelling as required to support strategy development and implementation, forecasting the financial impact of scenarios on CIPD’s future income streams, profitability and balance sheet strength.
  • Coordinate the preparation and publishing of the annual budget and in-year forecasts, in liaison with Finance Business Partners.
  • Produce the organisation-level monthly management accounts, with high level variance explanations.
  • Compile the quarterly balanced scorecard for the Board and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Prepare any other reports as required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Part-qualified as an accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Candidates who are qualified by experience will also be considered.
  • Experience of financial modelling.
  • Experience of interacting with budget holders with confidence, conviction and credibility.
  • Working knowledge of management accounting.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • A solutions-focused mentality.
  • Advanced Excel skills with a high attention to detail.

CVs for this role will be under constant review over the next few weeks, so please submit your application ASAP with our exclusive search agent Robertson Bell to avoid disappointment.
