My client is a rapidly growing public sector organisation based in London, looking for a Category Specialist with a focus on IT to join the team in a role that is vitally important to the future digital direction taken by the organisation.

The main responsibilities of the Category Specialist role are as follows:

  • Full responsibility for the rapidly growing IT category that is taking the lead on a huge push towards digital improvement across the organisation.
  • Act as the procurement subject matter expert for all levels of stakeholders within the IT category up to Executive Director level, helping them to understand why proper procurement processes are vital.
  • Produce new and re-evaluate existing frameworks and supplier contracts, ensuring best value for money for the organisation.
  • Consistently review supplier performance whilst maintaining excellent relationships with them to ensure that the best service possible is procured.

Furthermore, this organisation offers a huge amount of home working, with an office presence only required for vital meetings.

The successful candidate for the Category Specialist role will have:

  • At least started working towards their CIPS qualifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and procedures (e.g. OJEU, Find a Tender, etc.).
  • Experience of working with IT/Technology/Digital departments in order to procure equipment and services.
  • Previously worked with stakeholders at all levels to educate them on procurement-related matters.
