Interim Payroll Support Officer

I am assisting a Government organisation based in Canary Wharf in their search for an experienced and meticulous Payroll Officer to join their vibrant and quirky team. For an initial 3-month contract, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone hoping to enhance their current skill set with a renowned public sector organisation.

The sole purpose of the role is to accurately and efficiently execute the monthly payroll run which will be achieved through:

  • Undertaking specific activities to support monthly payroll run including capturing all changes, Inputting data, checking data and resolving any queries in line with deadlines.
  • Liaising with external payroll provider to exchange monthly payroll instructions, and check reconcile returns taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Identifying any missing information or anomalies, and take proactive action to investigate and resolve them (within Ofgem or with payroll provider).
  • Undertaking regular checks to ensure integrity of data in the payroll system, liaising with the people centre on anomalies and resolving issues, and correcting / updating system information as needed
  • Answering employee queries

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of Civil Service Pension and experience using Itrent. You will be able to work with autonomously and be able to hit the ground running.
